Notes:
Effects of modern process control technology on sensor systems. Sensor and actuator systems constitute the interface between material and energy flow of a process and the corresponding flow of information. Sensor systems can be classified independently of one another from the viewpoint of information utilization and that of information acquisition. This article presents a general structure for sensors, which differ widely depending upon function and design. Processing of the information which becomes available leads to certain demands but also to possibilities which are largely fulfilled or exploited with the aid of inbuilt computers. This concept of sensor systems with computers and its implications for systems components are examined.
