Zusammenfassung Es wird über eine Familie mit autosomal dominant vererbter Retinitis pigmentosa berichtet, von der mehrere Mitglieder klinisch und elektroretinographisch über Jahre verfolgt werden konnten. Ein Familienmitglied, der-Knabe Dieter E., wies im Alter von 10 Jahren einen normalen Augenbefund und mit Sicherheit ein normales ERG auf und zeigte im Verlaufe von etwa 10 Jahren eine kontinuierliche Reduktion der ERG-Potentiale bis zum Zustand des „ausgelöschten ERG“, nun auch geringe weitere klinische Zeichen der Erkrankung. Dies ist u. W. der erste sicher dokumentierte Fallbericht von Retinitis pigmentosa in der Literatur, der diesen ERG-Verlauf zeigt. Die Befunde werden ausführlich diskutiert.

Summary The transmission of retinitis pigmentosa by the autosomal dominant gene within a family is described. It was possible to follow up several members of the family by clinical observation and electroretinography (ERG) for some years. In one boy, Dieter E., examination of the eyes revealed no abnormality at the age of 10 years, and the ERG was definitely normal at this time. After this the potentials recorded in the ERG declined progressively for about 10 years until none were recorded at all, when mild clinical signs of the illness were also seen. As far as we are aware this is the first definite case of retinitis pigmentosa reported in the literature where this progressive degeneration was reflected in the ERG trace. The observations are discussed in detail.
