Notizen: Abstract At the time of urodynamic assessment, 91 patients were examined by transvaginal echography. Two urethral diverticula were detected, one of which was only detected by ultrasound. Transvaginal echography clearly showed the size and anatomical relationship of the diverticulum to the bladder. We conclude that the procedure is a useful adjunct to routine testing for the detection of urethral diverticula.

Notizen: Abstract Between September 1985 and June 1988, 67 patients with stress urinary incontinence were treated with reinforced Silastic slings using an abdominovaginal approach. Of these patients, 54 were cured, 2 were improved and 10 were the same or worse (1 patient was not followed up). Six patients who are now continent require periodic intermittent self-catheterization; 3 patients had to have the sling removed, due to a persistent sinus or pain; and 16 patients had to have the sling adjusted.

Notizen: Summary We present the outcome of a pregnancy in a woman with mild argininosuccinic lyase deficiency to add to the collective experience of the maternal and fetal effects of urea cycle defects. In females affected with argininosuccinic lyase deficiency, careful clinical and biochemical monitoring of pregnancy will minimize the risk of metabolic decompensation in the perinatal period. Furthermore, it would appear that argininosuccinate is not teratogenic to the development of the human fetus.
