Notes:
The germination of the negatively photoblastic seeds of Phacelia tanacetifolia Benth. (cv. Bleu Clair) is promoted by gibberellic acid and fusicoccin. In the dark, or in the light in the presence of fusicoccin, seed germination is accompanied by an increase of gibberellic acid-like substances. In these conditions, the inhibition of the synthesis of gibberellic acid-like substances does not prevent seed germination, but it affects the growth and the survival of the seedlings. Seed germination, growth, and survival of seedlings are discussed in relation to phytochrome, fusicoccin, and gibberellic acid-iite substances.
