An efficient algorithm for consideration of axial and cyclic symmetry in the boundary-element method is presented. The appropriate transformation relationships was derived. The algorithm is then implemented in a boundary element program for the analysis of 2D elastostatic problems. Through analysis of typical problems the validity of the algorithm and its implementation is verified. A high level of accuracy and substantial reduction in computer time and storage was achieved.
