Notes: Zusammenfassung 1.

Notes: Summary 1. The lethal effects of nephrotoxic serum in rats are delayed and reduced after the intraperitoneal administration of Cu-chlorophylline. 2. Granular fractions obtained from bovine PMN leucoxytes show proteolytic activity which has two pH optima, one in acid and one in neutral solution. This proteolytic activity has been shown to act on isolated basement membranes of rat kidney in vitro. Cu-chlorophylline inhibits the neutral protease only, whereas lysosomal cathepsins are not affected. 3. The mechanism of the chlorophylline effect on the Masugi-Nephritis is discussed. Our findings suggest that chlorophylline acts rather by inhibition of neutral protease activity of PMN leucocytes than by an effect on the complement system.

Notes: Summary Leucocidin fromPseudomonas aeruginosa causes cardiovascular failure in rats and mice. The time between i.v. injection and death depends on the dose. After injection of high doses (500 μg/kg) the arterial blood pressure decreases rapidly and cardiac irregularities and AV block occur within about 5 min. In contrast to endotoxin shock no pulmonary hypertension was observed, whereas portal hypertension was seen in our experiments. Injection of lower doses (〈200 μg/kg) caused peripheral vascular damage with lung oedema, vascular disturbances in various tissues, exudation and bleeding. Finally cardiac insufficiency predominated. Dexamethasone delayed the symptoms but did not prevent death in either rats or mice. Heparin was ineffective in this type of shock.

Notes: Summary Toxicity of the mushroom cyclopeptide phalloidin decreases after partial hepatectomy. Nevertheless all morphological signs of intoxication are detectable in livers from dead or surviving animals.
