Abstract The direct electrodeposition of 3-methylthiophene (MeT) into poly(3-methylthiophene) (PMeT) on aluminium-doped cadmium sulphide, CdS(Al), in the form of sprayed thin films, leads to a Schottky solid-state junction PMeT–CdS(Al) when PMeT is in its highly doped metal-like state. Attention has been focused on the effect of the parameters of electropolymerization of PMeT. The concentration of the monomer produced significant changes in the photovoltaic parameters of the junction, such as ideality factor (n), saturation current density (J0), barrier height (ΦB), fill factor (FF), series and shunt resistances (Rs, Rsh), and conversion efficiency (η).
