We report magnetic measurements on eight different Ni79Mn21 ellipsoidal samples as a function of temperature fields and reciprocal demagnetization factor N (0.2〈N〈12). For each sample, we have successively plotted the m vs H loop (I) in the ferromagnetic phase at 40 K, (II) in the reentrant phase at 1.5 K after zero-field cooling, and (III) after cooling in H=10 KOe from Tf=35 to 1.5 K. It is observed that the shape of the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) hysteresis loop, the field-cooled (FC)-shifted cycle, and the thermoremanent magnetization mr all depend (in an unusual way) on the reciprocal demagnetization factor N. It should be stressed, however, that the unidirectional anisotropy field Ha and the spontaneous magnetization ms are seen to be fairly independent of N, whereas the "internal'' initial susceptibility in the ZFC state (T=1.5 K) exhibits a noticeable dependence on N. Our results are consistent with a domain picture in which the structure of the domains would depend slightly on the shape of the sample.
