Conclusions 1. The temperature is rather even in baths of BaCl2 in a graphite crucible, which ensures even heating of machine parts. 2. The diffusion of carbon from the walls of the crucible into the molten BaCl2 during heating reduces decarburizing of tool steels. 3. The time between replacement of TG crucibles depends on the resistance of the crucible to cracks that form in the walls, and averages 150h with daily heating of the cold crucible to 1300° and operation for 8 h.
