It has been determined for the example of the styrene-butadiene copolymers that the metal to polymer adhesion of electroplated copolymers depends on the amount of butadiene. The peel strength of the electroplated metal layer for a copolymer containing ∼73% butadiene is about 60 N/25 mm, if the polymer is etched with pre-etching reagents consisting of chromium trioxide, sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. With spectroscopic methods it has been shown that the use of these pre-etching agents leads to an irreversible adsorption of chromium and sulfur on the polymer surface whereby the electrical surface-resistance of the polymer is lowered.

Am Beispiel von Copolymeren aus Styrol und Butadien wird gezeigt, daß die Haftung des Metalls bei der galvanischen Metallisierung vom Gehalt an Butadien abhängt.Bei einem Butadiengehalt von ∼73 Gew.-% beträgt die Abzugsfestigkeit der galvanischen Schicht ∼60 N/25 mm, wenn mit klassischen Vorbeizen aus Chromtrioxid, Schwefelsäure und Phosphorsäure gearbeitet wird. Spektroskopisch wird nachgewiesen, daß die Verwendung dieser Beizen zu einer irreversiblen Verankerung von Chrom und Schwefel an der Polymeroberfläche führt. Dadurch wird der elektrische Oberflächenwiderstand des polymeren Basismaterials erniedrigt.
