    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung An vier menschlichen Ovarien konntein vitro unter der Stimulation mit HCG/HMG eine Ovulation induziert und beobachtet werden. Die Ovarien wurden in einem rezirkulierenden System mit einem hämoglobinfreien, halbsynthetischen Medium perfundiert. Unter der Stimulation nahmen Atmung und Glykolyse bis zur Ruptur des Follikels um einen Faktor 2–3 zu. Dabei wurden aber −93% der freiwerdenden Energie aus dem aeroben Glucoseabbau gewonnen und nur −7% durch anaerobe Glykolyse. In der direkt präovulatorischen Phase konnte trotz Volumenzunahme des Follikels kein Anstieg des intrafollikulären hydrostatischen Druckes beobachtet werden. Der arterielle hydrostatische Druck dagegen zeigte 60–90 min zuvor einen wellenförmigen Anstieg bis zu 40 mmHg über den Normallevel, nach der Follikelruptur Abfall auf Ausgangswerte. Die Ergebnisse werden im Hinblick auf den Ovulationsmechanismus diskutiert.
    Notes: Summary An in vitro ovulation could be induced and observed in four human ovaries with Graafian follicle. Perfusion was carried out by means of a semi-synthetic medium which was free from haemoglobin in a closed recirculating system. During the stimulation by means of HCG/HMG (after the II. IRP a total of 22.9 I.U. LH/ml and 3 I.U. FSH/ml) an activation of respiration and glycolysis by a factor of 2–3up to the rupture of the follicle was observed. In this process 93% of the energy were released by the oxydative reduction of glucose and only about 7% by anaerobic glycolysis. 60–90 minutes before the rupture of the follicle an undulatory rise in the arterial hydrostatic pressure of up to 40 mmHg over the initial values was observed, although the outward conditions of perfusion were not altered, after the rupture a pressure drop to standard values. Apart from minor oscillations there was no increase in the intrafollicular pressure in spite of an increase in volume of the follicle, but only a decrease in pressure after the rupture of the follicle.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung An in vitro perfundierten menschlichen Ovarien der Follikelreifungsphase wurden der intrafollikuläre, intraovarielle und arterielle hydrostatische Druck gemessen. Sowohl im Gefäßsystem, als intraovariell sind spontan auftretende Druckänderungen zu registrieren. Unter Adrenalin, Noradrenalin, Prostaglandin F2α und Oxytocin kommt es einmal zu einer zunehmenden Tonisierung des Gefäßsystems, zum anderen zu vermehrt auftretenden Spontankontraktionen, wobei vor allem unter Prostaglandin F2α und Catecholaminen eine Zunahme von Frequenz und Amplitude zu beobachten ist. Jede Druckerhöhung im ovariellen Gefäßsystem und Gewebe bewirkt in allen Follikeln, die sich noch nicht in der direkt präovulatorischen Phase befinden, ebenfalls einen Druckanstieg. Direkt präovulatorisch treten Druckerhöhungen im Follikel nicht mehr auf, die Volumenzunahme des Liquor folliculi geht dann mit einer zunehmenden Dehnbarkeit der Follikelwand parallel. Die Ergebnisse werden im Hinblick auf die biophysikalischen Aspekte der Ovulation besprochen.
    Notes: Summary The intrafollicular, intraovarian and intraarterial hydrostatic pressures were measured in vitro on human ovaries in the follicular ripening phase. It has been established that in the vascular system as well as in the intraovarian tissues pressure variations occur spontaneously. Thus for example under, the influence of epinephrine, norepinephrine, prostaglandine F2α and oxytocine, the tonicity of the vascular system increases and does so the number of spontaneous contractions rather noticeably, particularly under the influence of prostaglandine F2α, and under the various catecholamines an increase of frequency and amplitude has been observed. Any increase of pressure in the intraovarian vascular system and tissues will effect all the follicles not yet in the preovulatorian phase, in which they cause a similar pressure increase. However, follicles imminently preovulatorian have not shown such pressure increase because the increase of the “liquor folliculi” runs parallel to the increasing elasticity of the follicle walls. The findings are discussed in this article with a particular view of the biophysical aspects of ovulation.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung 12 Rinderovarien wurden in einem geschlossenen rezirkulierenden System mit halbsynthetischem hämoglobinfreien Medium perfundiert. Dabei wurde der arterielle hydrostatische Druck und der Druck im Ovargewebe gleichzeitig aufgezeichnet. Es konnten auch im Rinderovar im Gewebe und im arteriellen Gefäßsystem Druckschwankungen nachgewiesen werden. Diese können in beiden Systemen voneinander unabhängige Verhaltensmuster zeigen. Es scheint, daß spontane Druckschwankungen in der Follikelreifungsphase eine höhere Amplitude und Frequenz aufweisen.
    Notes: Summary 12 bovine ovaries were perfused in a closed circuit system using a semisynthetic hemoglobinfree perfusate. The pressure in the ovarian tissue and the arterial pressure were recorded simultaneously. Arterial and tissue pressure changes were noticed in bovine ovaries, as have been described in other species. It could be shown that pressure in the vascular system and the arterial pressure may vary independantly. It appears as if spontaneous pressure changes in the in vitro perfused ovary are more pronounced in frequency and amplitude during the phase of follicle maturation.

    Notes: Summary Eight bovine ovaries with a corpus luteum were perfused for 4 h in a haemoglobin-free semi-synthetic perfusion medium in a closed circuit. After an initial prolactin(PRL)-free perfusion phase, 4.7 ng/ml ovine PRL was added in the 1st h, followed by 47 ng/ml in the 2nd h and 470 ng/ml in the 3rd h. Glucose and oxygen consumption and the production of lactate, pyruvate and CO2 were measured, while perfusion pressure and pH-value were recorded continuously. Under the influence of PRL anaerobic glucose metabolism was stimulated by 40.5% and oxidative phosphorylation was inhibited. Energy production from aerobic glucose metabolism rose by only 0.25%. Unlike PRL, Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (hMG) and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) stimulated aerobic metabolism. This may indicate that PRL is the “older” hormone in phylleogenetic terms.
