Notes: Oblique deposition of thin films of CdTe has led to the generation of photovoltages greater than the band gap. CdTe films were obliquely deposited in vacuum onto glass substrates and a number of samples were obtained by varying the deposition parameters. Samples were illuminated with a He-Ne laser and the angle of incidence of the irradiating light was varied. The dependence of the magnitude and sign of the photovoltage on the angle of irradiation may solve the problem of the nature of physical processes in these films that are responsible for the anomalously high photovoltaic effects.
