    Description / Table of Contents: The products of the reaction of CH2Cl2 with silicon in the presence of copper have been investigated in regard to the possible formation of cyclic silicon-methylene-compounds The compounds SiCl4, CH3SiCl2, (CH3)2SiCl2, and Si(CH3)3Cl have been identified by gas-chromatography; the formation of Cl3SiCH3SiCl3 and Cl3SiCH2SiHCl2 as well as the cyclic structure of the crystalline (SiCl2CH2)3 formed by the above reaction has been proved. The latter compound is identical with the Si3Cl6C3H6 (Si-hexachloro-cyclocarbosilane) formed by pyrolysis of CH3SiCl3 or (CH3)2SiCl2. Furthermore the linear silicone-methylene compounds Cl3SiCH2SiCl2CH2SiHCl2 and Cl3Si - CH2 - SiCl2 - CH2 - SiH2Cl are formed as it was confirmed by conversion into H3Si - CH2 - SiH2 - CH2 - SiH3 by means of LiAlH4 and investigation by gas chromatography. The products of higher molecular wheigts of the above mentioned reaction differ from those being formed by pyrolysis of the methylchlorosilanes.
    Notes: Die Reaktionsprodukte der Umsetzung von CH2Cl2 mit Silicium (Cu als Katalysator) wurden untersucht um festzustellen, wie weit dabei ringförmige Siliciummethylen-Verbindungen entstehen. Es ließen sich die Verbindungen SiCl4, CH3SiCl3, (CH3)2SiCl2 und (CH3)3SiCl gaschromatographisch identifizieren, und es wurde die Bildung von Cl3SiCH2- SiCl3 und Cl3SiCH2SiHCl2 bewiesen. Die ringförmige Struktur des kristallinen (SiCl2CH2)3 aus dieser Reaktion wurde gesichert. Die Verbindung ist identisch mit dem Si3Cl6C3H6 (Si-hexachlorcyclocarbosilan) aus der Pyrolyse des CH3SiCl3 oder (CH3)2SiCl2. Daneben bilden sich lineare Siliciummethylen-Verbindungen mit drei Si-Atomen [Cl3Si - CH2 - SiCl2 - CH2 - SiHCl2 und Cl3Si - CH2 - SiCl2 - CH2 - SiH2Cl], wie sich aus der Überführung in das H3Si - CH2 - SiH2 - CH2 - SiH3 (mit LiAlH4) und der gaschromatographischen Untersuchung ergibt. Die höhermolekularen Verbindungen (10 Vol.-%) unterscheiden sich von den Pyrolyseprodukten der Methylchlorsilane.
