    Description / Table of Contents: The reactions between LiP(C2H5)2 and AlCl3 or AlHnCl3-n (n = 1; 2) have been investigated. Compounds of definite molecular size are formed when the number of PR2 groups bound to the Al atom is so small that an addition reaction yielding polymeric products cannot occur or when the polymerisation is avoided by the formation of the anion [AlX4]-(X = PR2 and H).Thus AlCl3 reacts with one mole of LiP(C2H5)2 yielding [Cl2Al - P(C2H5)2]3, with four moles of LiP(C2H5)2 Li[Al{P(C2H5)2}4] (I) is formed, whilst with three moles a highly viscous product, [Al{P(C2H5)2}3]n (n being unknown) is obtained which can be transferred into I by reacting it with further LiP(C2H5)2. The reaction of AlH2Cl and LiP(C2H5)2 in a 1:1 molar ratio affords the compound [H2Al - P(C2H5)2]3 (II) which on addition of more LiP(C2H5)2 yields Li[AlH2{P(C2H5)2}2] )III). III can be obtained directly reacting AlH2Cl with LiP(C2H5)2 in a 1:2 molar ratio. The formation of Li[AlH{P(C2H5)2}3] from AlHCl2 occurs in an analogous reaction. AlH3 reacts in ether solution with LiP(C2H5)2 forming Li[AlH3{P(C2H5)2}] (IV).  -  The reactions of [Cl2Al - P(C2H5)2]3 with LiC6H5 and of Al(C6H5)3O(C2H5)2 with LiP(C2H5)2, however, do not yield the analogous lithium phenyl-phosphidoalanates, but afford LiAl(C6H5)4 besides other products. The highly viscous [Al{P(C2H5)2}3]n does not react with LiC6H5 in ether solution.
    Notes: Umsetzungen von LiP(C2H5)2 mit AlCl3 oder AlHnCl3-n (n = 1; 2) liefern nur dann Verbindungen definierter Molekelgröße, wenn die Zahl der PR2-Gruppen am Al-Atom so niedrig bleibt, daß keine Anlagerung zu höhermolekularen Produkten erfolgen kann oder das Anion [AIX4]- gebildet wird (X = P(C2H5)2 oder H). So bildet AlCl3 mit einem Mol LiP(C2H5)2 [Cl2Al - P(C2H5)2]3, mit vier Mol Li[Al{P(C2H5)2}4] (I), während mit drei Mol eine hochviskose Substanz der Zusammensetzung [Al{P(C2H5)2}3]n (undefinierte Molekelgröße) entsteht, die mit weiterem LiP(C2H5)2 I bildet. Aus AlH2Cl entsteht mit einem Mol LiP(C2H5)2 [H2Al - P(C2H5)2]3 (II), das mit LiP(C2H5)2 zum Li[AlH2{P(C2H5)2}2] (III) reagiert. III ist auch direkt aus direkt aus AlH2Cl mit zwei Mol LiP(C2H5)2 zugänglich, entsprechend Li[AlH{P(C2H5)2}3] aus AlHCl2; AlH3 (gelöst in Äther) bildet mit LiP(C2H5)2 Li[AlH3{P(C2H5)2}] (IV). Umsetzungen von [Cl2Al - P(C2H5)2]3 mit LiC6H5 oder von Al(C6H5)2O(C2H5)2 mit LiP(C2H5)2 führen dagegen nicht zu den entsprechenden Lithium-(phenyl-phosphido)-alanaten, sondern es bildet sich u. a. LiAl(C6H5)4. Das hochviskose [Al{P(C2H5)2}3]n reagiert nicht mit LiC6H5 in Äther.

    Description / Table of Contents: LiP (C2H5)2 and AlCl3 in (C2H5)2O form [(C2H5)2P—AlCl2]3 (I) and solid LiCl. The trimeric compound (I) (white crystals) is deposited on when concentrating the etherical solution by evaporation. It cannot be redissolved in ether. The molecular weight was determined cryoscopically in POCl3. Within 3 hours, (I) is split up by POCl3 into 3 parts causing the threefold lowering of the freezing point. After removing the excess of POCl3, (C2H5)2P—AlCl3:OPCl3 (red liquid) can be isolated.
    Notes: LiP(C2H5)2 und AlCl3 bilden in (C2H5)2O unter Abscheidung von LiCl das [(C2H5)2P—AlCl2]3 (I). Die trimere Verbindung (weiße Kristalle) scheidet sich erst beim Einengen der ätherischen Lösung ab und ist dann in Äther nicht mehr zu lösen. Das Mol-Gewicht wurde kryoskopisch in POCl3 bestimmt. Die Gefrierpunktserniedrigung von (I) in POCl3 steigt innerhalb drei Stunden etwa auf das Dreifache des Ausgangswertes an. Aus der Lösung von (I) in POCl3 läßt sich nach längerem Stehen und Abtreiben des überschüssigen POCl3 das (C2H5)2P—AlCl3:OPCl3 (rote Flüssigkeit) isolieren.
