Notes: In the present study, hybrid magnesium composites reinforced with SiC and Tiparticulates were successfully synthesized using an innovative disintegrated melt deposition technique followed by hot extrusion. Extruded samples were characterized for their microstructural, thermal and mechanical properties. Systematic investigations on the microstructure of the extrudedsamples revealed retention and uniform distribution of SiC and Ti particulates, good matrixreinforcement interfacial integrity and limited porosity. Results of properties characterization revealed a decrease in the average coefficient of thermal expansion, and an increase in the hardness, dynamic modulus and 0.2% yield strength with an increase in amount of reinforcement. Ductility, however, was adversely affected. An attempt is made to correlate the presence of hybrid (ceramic + metallic) reinforcements with the improved properties of composites synthesized
