    Notizen: Summary The effects of hallucinogens and their nonhallucinogenic analogs on the performance of rats on the Lashley-III underwater maze were evaluated. After the rats were trained to swim through the maze without an error, they were injected i.p. with test compounds or saline solution and tested at various intervals after the injection. A substantial number of the treated animals made one or more errors. The time of peak effect of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD-25) and mescaline was 15 min after the injection; that of 2-brom-lysergic acid diethylamide (BOL-148) and of several trimethoxyamphetamines (TMA) was 30 min; and that of d-amphetamine was 45 min. The dose-response curves showed that the effect of the compounds was a function of dose. The median effective doses (ED 50) in μmol/kg were: LSD-25 (0.3); TMA-2 (12.8); BOL-148 (15.9); d-amphetamine (32.0); TMA (33.4); TMA-6 (46.0); TMA-3 (52.1); mescaline (91.0); and TMA-4 (94.0). The rank order of potency of the compounds is, in general, similar to that derived from the data on man.

    Notizen: Abstract The relative potency of amphetamine derivatives and N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) derivatives was evaluated in rats trained to swim through an underwater tube in order to escape at the other and of the tank. All of the compounds tested significantly increased the starting latency. The time of peak effect of 2,5-dimethoxy-4-ethyl-amphetamine (DOET), 2,5-dimethoxy-4-methyl-amphetamine (DOM), and 6-hydroxy-DMT was estimated at 40 min after the intraperitoneal injection and that of DMT, 4-methoxy-DMT, and psilocybin was 20 min. Dose-response curves showed that the increase in the latency was dose-dependent. The descending rank order of potency of the compounds, according to the median effective dose (ED50), was: DOET, psilocybin, DOM, DMT, 4-methoxy-DMT, and 6-hydroxy-DMT.

Une étude dose-réponse de l'effet inhibiteur de ce produit, testé sur 120 souris au temps d'effet maximum, a montré que le médian ED50 est 0,265 mg/kg (0,212–0,331 mg/ kg.). Une seconde étude dose-réponse sur des souris semblables, testées quinze minutes après injection, a indiqué que le médian ED50 est 0,365 mg/kg (0,261–0,511 mg/kg). Toutes études ont montré que le LSD-25, administré intrapéritonéalement aux souris, inhibe leur comportement d'attaque.
    Notizen: Summary These studies showed that the time of maximum inhibitory effect of LSD-25 on the isolation-induced attack behavior of 11 weeks old Swiss-Webster male mice is 5 min after its intraperitoneal injection. A dose-response study of the inhibitory effect of this compound on 120 mice tested at the time of maximum effect showed that the median ED50 is 0.265 mg/kg (0.212–0.331 mg/kg). A second dose-response study on similar mice, tested 15 min post-injection, indicated that the median ED50 is 0.365 mg/kg (0.261–0.511 mg/kg). All studies showed that LSD-25 given intraperitoneally to mice inhibits their attack behavior.

    Notizen: Abstract The visual discrimination and delayed-response tests and the test of conditioned-avoidance response were adapted and administered to a weanling squirrel monkey to determine its learning ability and retention performance. The data show that the weanling learned to perform all the tests successfully, indicating that the tractable squirrel monkey is a potentially satisfactory animal model for a comparative and developmental study of learning ability and retention performance during the early stages of life.
