Notes: Summary The angiographic findings of 17 brain stem tumors are reported in detail. The importance of the angiographic landmarks previously described is confirmed. Generally, the lateral view is found more informative than the Towne projection. The displacement of vessels is sometimes limited to those related to the upper or to the lower brain stem. This permits the recognition of small tumors and their position in the brain stem. The importance of the measurements of arterial and venous landmarks, described in the literature, is verified. The features of unusual paradoxical cases, simulating cerebellopontine angle lesions and posterior foramen magnum meningiomas, and of a false positive case, are discussed.

Notes: Summary The two dosage schedules of VP16 that gave the least and the greatest efficacy in Lewis lung carcinoma of the mouse were selected for evaluation of the cytokinetic effects observable in vivo at different intervals after treatment (schedule A: 40 mg/kg IV, on day 8 after transplant; schedule B: 13 mg/kg IV, repeated on days 8, 11 and 14 after transplant). After the single dose and after each repeated dose there was a marked increase in the percentage of cells in the LS-G2-M phases, with a corresponding decrease in the percentage of cells in G0-G1. The number of neoplastic tetraploid cells compared with normal diploid cells in the tumor was reduced after the single IV dose, and more markedly so after repeated doses. This study suggests that the more marked delay of cancer cell growth and greater effectiveness observed with schedule B is related to repeated blockade of the LS-G2-M phases.

Notes: Abstract Leptomeningeal melanoblastosis is a rare phakomatosis; the amelanotic variant has not till now been described. In this paper we report the case of a young man suffering from amelanotic leptomeningeal melanoblastosis manifested as medullary syndrome and secondary intracranial hypertension. The diagnosis of leptomeningeal melanoblastosis was hypothesized on the basis of CSF and neuroradiological findings and it was finally confirmed by the histopathology.

Notes: Abstract The aim of the study is to define the role of associated malformations in the clinical evolution of children affected by myelomeningocele. MRI investigation of the spinal cord was carried out on 25 patients between the age of 7.3 and 18.10 with MMC repaired and followed up for at least 7 years. The relation between associated malformations demonstrated by MRI and clinical trend was analysed. The results are the following: 1) presence of asymptomatic tethered cord in all cases; 2) high frequency (92%) of Chiari malformation; 3) presence of syringomyelia in 20% of patients, symptomatic in 1; 4) presence of ventricular enlargement in 72% of cases without increased intracranial pressure syndrome. For a better therapeutic approach prospective MRI studies are needed in order to follow up associated malformations.

Description / Table of Contents: Sommario Sono stati riesaminati e descritti gli esami neuroradiologici di 31 casi consecutivi di tumori intracranici a cavallo tra fossa media e fossa posteriore, verificati chirurgicamente, con particolare riferimento all'esame radiografico del cranio, all'angiografia ed alla tomografia assiale computerizzata.
Notes: Abstract 31 consecutive, surgically verified cases of tumors growing from the middle into the posterior fossa or viceversa are reviewed. The results of plain X-ray studies, of angiography and computed tomography (CT)are described. Comparative analysis of the various studies was decisive for predicting the nature of the lesion in the majority of the cases.

Notes: Abstract IDSA studies were performed in 6 patients with AVM and hemangioblastomas of the spinal cord. IDSA appears to be the most suitable angiographic approach for the study and embolization of this kind of lesions of the spinal cord even when special conditions require repeating some injections on conventional angiography.

Description / Table of Contents: Sommario È stata fatta una revisione di tumori del pavimento della fossa media, operati all'Istituto Neurologico “C.
