Notes: Summary The fields of action of Trasylol, so far as they are concerned with the prevention of adhesions, are: 1. Antiphlogistic action. 2. Delaying coagulation. 3. Inhibition of the endopeptidase plasmin. The writer, on the basis of his experiences, presents the view that for the prevention of adhesions Trasylol should be instilled intraperitoneally. In view of Payr's observation that purulent peritonitis commonly causes fewer adhesions than “smooth” laparotomies, the above statement does not apply to purulent peritonitis, because the author's follow-ups of 1,105 appendectomized patients have confirmed Payr's observation.
