Notes:
Derivatives of poly(methacrylic acid) with mesogenic sidegroups are aggregated in solution. Through structural changes which also take place in the solid state, the fraction of the aggregates increases with storage time. The formation of aggregates depends on temperature and occurs relatively slowly. In solution, the degree of aggregation strongly depends on the solvent. This aggregation leads to relatively high tacticity in products obtained by radical initiated polymerisations.
