Studies on the EDA-Complexes of BenzylarylethersBenzylarylethers form electron donator-acceptor complexes with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone (DDQ). The appearance of two charge-transfer transitions is characteristic of the EDA-complexes of TCNE. There is a linear relationship between the transition energies and the σp+-constants of the substituents of the ethers. Ionization potentials of the benzylarylethers could be calculate using the energies of CT bands. Beside the DA complex exists a D2A complex, too. By means of a special method of calculation it is possible to estimate true values of the constants of complex forming and of the extinction coefficients.
