Notes: Abstract A prototype of a laser target device was used for CT-guided nerve blocks in a preliminary series of nine interventions. The system provides guidance from any possible approach. High accuracy of needle insertion was achieved; the average deviation of the planned from the actual angle was 1.4°. The target device is valuable for facilitating minimally invasive therapy and can decrease the time required for the procedure.

Notes: Abstract A new method of detecting vesicoureteric reflux (VUR) is presented, utilizing ultrasound as the imaging modality. During the filling phase of a gas cystogram and during micturition, gas bubbles can be seen in the renal pelvis in cases of reflux. In 107 pediatric patients, sonographic reflux studies were performed and compared with radiographic voiding cystourethrograms. The accuracy of the sonographic reflux study was 93.4%, the sensitivity of grade III– IV was 100%, and the specificity was 95.6%. Hence sonographic reflux studies with air have been incorporated into our routine. Since that time, the number of voiding cystourethrograms has decreased by over 80%.

Notes: Abstract Aberrant papillae may present as uncommon filling defects in the renal pelvis. The case of an 11-year-old boy with an aberrant papilla detected by ultrasound and corroborated by intravenous urography is presented and a diagnostic plan is suggested.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary After total pancreatectomy the consecutive pancreoprive diabetes frequently shows an extreme insuline sensibility. Now that depot glucagon has become known a combination of insuline and depot glucagon substitution is obvious. This communication reports that in one case the treatment with the mentioned combination has been successful.
