Notes: The unusual behavior of a decrease of crystal cell volume V with Cr concentration in Nd14Fe78−xCrxC8 compounds is observed and explained. The saturation magnetization σs of the compounds has a marked drop with increasing Cr content. This is due to the Cr atoms probably have a preference for occupation on 8j1 site or/and 16k2 site, and antiparallel alignment of the moments between Cr and Fe atoms, leading to considerable decrease of Tc. The anisotropy field HA at room temperature decreases at a rate of about 10 kOe/Cr atoms, similar to the one observed in Nd2Fe12Cr2B. The temperature dependence of magnetizations in the bulk, nonaligned sample of Nd14Fe63Cr15C8 at applied fields of 1, 3, and 5 kOe, respectively, were measured from 1.5 to 300 K and back in separate runs. The two jumps in the virgin run were explained. The coercive forces iHc are found to increase with Cr concentration and reach a maximum at x=15, and consequentially decrease. The temperature dependence of iHc for Nd14Fe63Cr15C8 changes of the logarithm of iHc with T is nearly linear. Such a linear dependence may be explained by the thermal activation process of domain walls.

Notes: Structural and magnetic properties of the ternary R14Fe78C8 compounds, where R=Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, and Lu, were systematically investigated. By means of properly annealing treatment, the tetragonal structure isotropic to the Nd2Fe14B phase could be well formed in the above compounds. The lattice constants and Curie temperatures were determined and correspondingly compared to those obtained in borides. The magnetizations at 1.5 K and room temperature were measured. The anisotropy behaviors of R14Fe78C8 were studied in detail, and we found that there was some evident difference in both carbides and borides.

Notes: Tetragonal R15B7Fe78 (R=MM, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, and Y) compounds have been studied by x-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The lattice parameters are found to decrease with increasing atomic number of rare-earth elements, whereas the Curie temperatures TC increase monotonically, and the TC of Gd15B7Fe78 is the highest. The saturation magnetization and magnetocrystalline anisotropy were measured with a field up to 70 kOe at the temperature between 1.5 and 300 K. We found that the c axis is the easy axis of magnetization for R=Pr, Gd, and Y; the easy magnetization direction lies in the basal plane for R=Sm; and the direction of easy magnetization changes with temperature for R=Nd.

Notes: In this paper, the sulfate resistance properties of concrete under loading action are studied. The concrete specimens with different water/cement ratio are prepared and correlative corrosive experiments are carried out under single damage factor (SDF) and multiple damage factors (MDF), which is relative with drying and wetting cycles. Dynamic elastic modulus is taken to characteristic the sulfate resistance properties of concrete under the action of loading, drying and wetting cycles and sulfate corrosion. Results show the corrosion mechanisms of sulfate attack due to single damage factor and multiple damage factors were not all the same, and multiple damage factors could indicate the concrete structure due to sulfate attack more exactly

Notes: Electrochemical chloride extraction (ECE) is used for the rehabilitation of chloride-contaminated concrete. High current densities of steel surface are applied between the steel and a temporary external anode which is placed on the concrete surface. Anions are pushed away from the cathode (steel reinforcement), and cations are accumulated at the cathode. In this study chloride ions were found in the electrolyte during ECE. The extraction efficiency of chlorides was obvious. After treatment, the amount of chlorides around the reinforcement was greatly reduced. ECE had insignificant effect on the compressive strength. Steel potentials in treated specimens showed a strong shift towards more positive values, while potentials in control specimens remained strongly negative

Notes: At present, the concrete applied over the world is ordinary concrete with a compressive strength less than 50 MPa, whose service life is generally 40 ~ 50 years. How to get high performance, high durability, and make its service life extend from 40 ~ 50 years to 70 ~ 80 years is of great significance in saving resources, energy and money. From the point of view of material science, the durability ofconcrete is mainly affected by its components, inner structure and performance. This paper studied how to adjust the components and add special mineral ultra-finest powder to make the ordinary concrete get higher durability and performance

Notes: Polypropylene fiber is a new measure to prevent plastic cracks of concrete. Effects of the parameters, such as dosage and types of fibers, on the plastic cracks were studied systematically. The properties of cracking resistance of mortar, ordinary concrete and high performance concrete were investigated by using samples of two types in shape. The results show that: (1) polypropylene fibers may increase thecracking resistance of concrete further; (2) as smaller quantity of cement and higher quantity of aggregate as possible should be used to prevent concrete form cracking; (3) the main reason why polypropylene fibers increase cracking resistance of concrete is that they increase strain capacity of concrete at early age, decrease shrinkage strain, improve plastic tensile strength and decrease tensile stress of the capillary
