Notes: Abstract We obtained the rate constants of the radiolytic reduction of Am O 2 2+ in perchloric, sulfuric, and nitric acids by determining the radiation yield of the reducing products. These values, combined with data on hydrogen peroxide yield, make it possible to evaluate the consumption of hydrogen radicals in the over-all reduction reaction. A mechanism is proposed for the radiolytic reduction of Am O 2 2+ and AmO 2 + . The expression for the rate of Am O 2 + reduction makes it possible to calculate the yields of hydrogen peroxide and hydrogen radicals in the solutions investigated.
