Conclusions On the basis of the experience gained, it is safe to say that impermeable barriers may be constructed in noncohesive soils by the method of trenching in a clay slurry to a depth of 15 m. The prospect of using special trenching machines seems to be attactive, as indicated by tests of the first specialized SVD-500 equipment constructed in the USSR.
