Notes:
The electrochemical reactions of Fe(CN)3-6 and Fe(CN)4-6 on basal plane graphite electrode were studied using cyclic voltammetry and in situ Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) reflection spectroelectrochemistry. The IR band near 2080 to 2067 cm-1 was found to be an intermediate for Fe(CN)3-6 reduction and the band near 2058 to 2067 cm-1 for Fe(CN)4-6 oxidation. The possible mechanisms of reduction and oxidation and structure of intermediate are discussed.
