Notes: Abstract The Gaussian wave-functional variational approximation is used to calculate the energy of one-particle state as well as the energy and wave function of two-particle state in the sinh-Gordon model in (1+1) dimensions. We find that there are no bound states in this model. The phase shifts of the scattering states are investigated in detail.

Notes: Abstract The one-dimensional Fermion system with backward scattering has been analyzed by use of the methods of bosonization and Gaussian wave functional. We find that there exist two kinds of phase transitions in the spin density degree according to the interaction parameters: one is a Kosterlitz-Thouless type transition and the other is a first order phase transition when backward scattering becomes sufficiently strong.

Notes: Abstract The spectral functions of the spin pair correlation functions in a coupled quadrupole system are evaluated using the maximum entropy formalism starting from the exact derivation of the frequency moments to fourth order at the high temperature limit. The numerical computations are carried out for different wave vectors and ratios of the anisotropic field to the quadrupolar interaction. The effects of these parameters on the spectral function are discussed.
