Cyclitol Reactions, XV. - Synthesis of Pseudodisaccharides with Ether LinkageSome pseudodisaccharides, containing an ether linkage between a cyclitol and a saccharide component, have been synthesized. The reaction of cyclitol derivatives, carrying a free hydroxylic function, with saccharide triflates in the presence of sodium hydride is successful. Both, primary and secondary triflyl groups are substituted to yield (1→6)- and (1→4)-linked pseudodisaccharides, respectively. The (1→6)-linked pseudodisaccharide 11 consisting of pseudo-α-D-glucose and D-glucose, thus corresponding to isomaltose, is obtained. Furthermore, the (1→4)-linked pseudodisaccharides 28 and 43 are synthesized, which are corresponding to maltose and cellobiose, respectively.
Notes:
