Notes: Conclusions 1. In 10-mm-thick rolled sheets of VT19 alloy at a distance of 0.5 mm from the surface the maximum in (110) shear texture and the minimum in (100)+(112)+(111) deformation texture are observed. 2. While not significantly changing the character of distribution of the texture across the sheet thickness, annealing of rolled sheet at 880°C does cause a significant increase in the volume of material without clear crystallographic orientations (texture-free fraction) and promotes the formation of a weakly expressed recrystallization texture.

Notes: Conclusions 1. The supplementary alloying of the titanium VT23 (α+β)-alloy with 2–6% Zr and Sn lowers the recrystallization of the β-phase. Oxygen and carbon additives (0.1% each) suppress this process. Additives of ytterium and erbium (0.02% each) in the grade-composition alloy do not exert a pronounced influence on its tendency to recrystallization. 2. The texture of the β-phase in sheets 2 mm thick is nonuniform over the cross section after both rolling and annealing, and contains the (110) shear component in the layer at a distance of 1/4h from the surface, which is intensified as a function of alloying due to either dynamic recrystallization during rolling or static recrystallization during subsequent annealing. After rolling, the amount of (110)[001] texture ranges from 7 to 29% as a result of the nonuniform tendency of alloys with different additives to dynamic recrystallization. After static recrystallization during subsequent annealing, the volume fraction of this texture is equalized in all alloys investigated, and amounts to 20–36%.

Notes: Conclusions 1. Analysis of the crystallographic texture of the α-phase in rolled sheets of titanium pseudo-α-alloys that had previously been subjected to short-term annealing at different temperatures makes it possible to determine the temperature of the polymorphic transformation of these alloys with high accuracy and investigate the recrystallization process of the high-temperature phase. The temperature Tpt=955±15 and 1018±17°C for alloys OT4 and VT20, respectively. 2. Use of x-ray photography with layer-by-layer removal of material from the surface of the specimen makes it possible to ascertain the variation in the temperature of the phase transition over a section of an article in the presence of an impurity gradient across the thickness. Thus, Tpt=1053±17°C on the surface of an alloy VT20 sheet; this is ∼35°C higher than that in the core.

Notes: Conclusion Obtaining a high-volume fraction with a base orientation in the direction of the normal to the plane of the rolled sheet providing it with good plastic isotropy in VT18u alloy is possible by selection, of the conditions of direct and cross rolling to provide the most complete twinning in material with {1012} [1011] systems prismatic orientation. Subsequent annealing, strengthens the base orientation in the normal direction, and its volume fraction increases to 89–93%.

Notes: Conclusions 1. With increasing hydrogen concentrations there is no noticeable change in lattice constant c ofα titanium alloys, while the hardness and yield strength increase smoothly. 2. The relative elongation and reduction in section depend greatly on the grain size and the associated morphology of hydrides. Alloys of titanium with hydrogen having fine-grained hydrides have relativel high values of δ and ψ.

Notes: Conclusions 1. In sheets 2 mm thick of pseudo-α-titanium alloy of the system Ti-Al-V the rolling texture is distributed nonuniformly. In the layers of material close to the surface of the sheet we find texture of shear caused by base and prismatic slip. At the center of the sheet there predominates the texture of plane deformation of the initial prismatic orientation ( $$11\bar 20$$ ) of the α-phase in rolling with great reduction in the temperature range M d e , the temperature of the end of martensitic transformation in deformation. 2. The effect of intermediate annealing of the billet before final rolling of thin sheet on the ratio of the fractions of material with the texture of phase transformation and the texture of plane deformation in it is connected with the sensitivity of the temperature of martensitic transformations in deformation to the initial structure and texture of the metal.

Notes: Conclusions 1. The more remote the process of hydrogen reduction of tungsten and molybdenum from equilibrium and the more unstable the intermediate phases, the greater is the self-acceleration of the reduction process resulting from particle comminution. 2. The hypothesis is advanced thatβ-W is a granulometric rather than a temperature modification of tungsten, which means that the existence ofβ-W directly depends on the particle size of the material.
