Summary Quantitative investigations on the various suppositions and the applicability of small angle X-ray scattering (with aKratky-camera) are made for the purpose to determine the kinetic of phase separation in silicate systems. The evaluation of the scattering curves is performed by the method ofGaussian approximation (optimisation), which is based on the postulation of a special particle size distribution function. In the present study equally good approximation is found forGaussian,Maxwellian and normal logarithmic size distribution. The reason for this behaviour is, that with regard to intensity the optimal distribution function could not be found, truly, but it succeeded however to obtain independently on the type of the distribution function that part of the size distribution, which covers the range from the largest to the average particle radius. A comparison with an electron-microscopic determination shows that a normal logarithmic size distribution exists also for small sizes, and therefore this type was used in the present evaluations.
Notes:
