Description / Table of Contents: Abstract The theory of the electrically insulated calorimeter gauge with finite thickness has been developed. From the theoretical results the possible errors of the gauge can be estimated. The influence of the temperature distribution on the electrical resistance is given. The experimental results of the heat transfer to the stagnation point of a spherical cylinder in argon and air agree reasonably with the theory ofFay andRiddell. Earlier experimental results have been found too high or too low.

Notes: Abstract. A one-dimensional physical model and a numerical method for the simulation of heterogeneous detonation were proposed based on an Eulerian approach for heterogeneous flows. The combination of modern shock-capturing schemes in combination with a dynamically moving, adaptive grid ensure the properresolution of both reaction zones and flow discontinuities. Numerical examples illustrate the effect of the heat release due to heterogeneous combustion.

Notes: An adaptive finite volume method for the simulation of time-dependent, viscous flow is presented. The Navier-Stokes equations are discretized by central schemes on unstructured grids and solved by an explicit Runge-Kutta method. The essential topics of the present study are a new concept for a local Runge-Kutta time-stepping scheme, called multisequence Runge-Kutta, which reduces the severe stability restriction in unsteady problems, a common grid generation and adaptation procedure and the application of dynamic grids for capturing moving flow structures. Results are presented for laminar, separated flow around an aerofoil with a flap.
