    Notes: Abstract The electrodeposition of cobalt-nickel alloys was carried out from Watts-type baths of composition 5–60gl−1 CoSO4 · 7H2O, 100–300gl−1 NiCl2 · 6H2O and 25gl−1 H3BO3 at a pH of 4.4. The cathodic polarization during electrodeposition and the alloy composition were greatly influenced by the concentrations of the depositable metal ions; whereas, the cathodic efficiency was only slightly affected. Under the examined conditions, the electrodeposition of the alloys belonged to the anomalous type. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the alloys were deposited in the face-centred cubic structure and consisted of a mixture of the two phases α(Co) andβ(Ni). Sound, smooth and bright alloy deposits were obtained and their properties were improved by increasing the nickel content of the bath.

    Notes: Abstract The electrodeposition of Cd−Ni alloys from some selected acetate baths has been investigated. The influences of the proportions of Ni2+ and Cd2+ ions in the bath, the operating current density and superimposed alternating current on the electrodeposited alloys have been examined. The study includes the effect of these variables on the cathodic polarization curves, current efficiency, chemical composition and surface morphology of the alloys. Under all conditions the electrodeposition process is of the anomalous type. An explanation of this phenomenon with the help of a comparison between the experimental and the calculated polarization curves is given. X-ray diffraction studies show that the nickel-rich alloys consist of Ni and β(Cd−Ni) phases, while the cadmium-rich alloys contain Cd, β(Cd−Ni) and Ni phases. The optimum bath composition and operating conditions for the electrodeposition of sound, smooth and bright Cd−Ni alloys have been identified.

Die AktivierungsenergieE a der Kristallisierung wurde mit Hilfe der Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Gleichung ermittelt und der Kristallisierungsmechanismus untersucht. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, da\ der Kristallisierungsmechanismus von Bi10Se70In20 eindimensionale und OberflÄchenvorgÄnge beinhaltet. Der errechnete mittlere Wert vonE a betrÄgt für Bi10Se70In20 34.38±1.46 kcal/mol.
    Notes: Abstract Results of DSC under isothermal conditions on the chalcogenide glass Bi10Se70In20 are reported and discussed. The Johnson-Mehl-Avrami equation was used to evaluate the crystallization activation energy (E a) and the crystallization mechanism was studied. The results indicate that the crystallization mechanism involves one dimensional and surface processes for Bi10Se70In20. The average calculated value ofE a for Bi10Se70In20 is 34.38±1.46 kcal/mol.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Über interne Gebildungsprozesse hergestellte UO3 Mikrokugeln wurden reduziert und gesintert. Dafür wurden Wasserstoff- und Argonatmösphären verschiedene Zeit lang bei Temperaturen zwischen 1100 °C und 1400 °C verwendet. Es wurde festgestellt, daß die Dichte des gesinterten Materials bei einer Reduktionstemperatur von 700 °C am größten ist. Bei gleichen Sinter- und Reduktionstemperaturen erreicht man in Argon eine geringere Dichte als in Wasserstoff. Mehr als 98% Th.D. kann man erreichen, indem man die UO3 Kugeln bei 400 °C eine Stunde lang kalziniert, bei 700 °C reduziert und dann zwei Stunden lang bei 1400 °C in Wasserstoffatmosphäre sintert.
    Abstract: Резюме Микросферическая тр ехокись урана, получе нная методом внутреннего желатирования, была подвергнута вос становлению и спекан ию. Процессы проводились с различ ной продолжительностью в интервале температ ур 1100–1400° в атмосфере водорода и аргона. Найдено, чти плотност ь спекания была более высокой для сферических частиц т рехокиси урана, подвергнутых восста новлению при 700°, чем пр и других температурах восста новления. При той же самой температуре спекания и восстанов ления в атмосфере аргона был и достигнуты более низкие плотности по с равнению с таковыми в атмосфере водорода. Более чем 98% а бсолютно сухой трехокиси уран а было получено путем обжига сферической трехоки си урана при температуре 400° в течен ии 1 часа, с последующим восстановлением ее п ри 700°, а затем спеканием ее в атмосф ере водорода в течени и 2 часов при температуре 1400°.
    Notes: Abstract UO3 microspheres, prepared using an internal gelation process, were reduced and sintered. Hydrogen and argon atmospheres were used at temperatures ranging from 1100 °C to 1400 °C for different durations. It was found that the sintered density is higher for spheres réduced at 700 °C than at any other reduction temperature. Lower densities were achieved in argon atmosphere than in hydrogen for the same sintering and reduction temperature. More than 98% Th.D. could be obtained by calcining the UO3 spheres at 400 °C for 1 hr, reducing at 700 °C and then sintering at 1400 °C for 2 hrs in hydrogen atmosphere.

    Notes: Abstract Earlier work on the electroplating of cadmium from acidic bromide solution containing 0.3M CdBr2·4H2O, 0.1M HC1, 0.4M H3BO3 and 2.0M KBr (Bath I) has been reviewed and extended to an examination of the influence of the organic additives 5g gelatin 1−1 and 2.5g melamine 1−1 (Bath II). The effects of the plating current density, plating time and pH on the cathodic polarization and the current efficiency of cadmium electroplating from Bath II, as well as on the morphology and the microhardness of the as-plated cadmium electrodeposits are discussed. It was observed that the additivecontaining Bath II yields more coherent, brighter and harder cadmium plates than the additive-free Bath I. The optimum operating conditions for obtaining satisfactory plates from Bath II at 25° C are:i=0.6–1.6 A dm−2;t=10–15 min and pH 3.6–1.9.

    Notes: Abstract The electrodeposition of nickel-thallium alloy powder was investigated from acidic sulphate baths containing 0.0125 NiSO4·6H2O, 0.005–0.020 Tl Cl, 0.05–0.23 (NH4)2SO4, 0.1 H3BO3 and 0.07 mol l−1 Na2SO4 · 10H2O. The polarization curves, the percentage composition and the current efficiency of the electrodeposited alloy powders were determined as a function of the bath composition. In addition, some properties of the deposits were examined such as the surface morphology, the structure as revealed by X-ray diffraction analysis and the catalytic activity towards the decomposition of 0.4% H2O2 solution. The results indicate that the characteristics of the alloy deposition and the properties of the alloy powder are affected to different extents by the bath composition.
