Summary During pregnancy there is an increase in the myoglobin content of the myometrium from 22,7 mg-% to 64,8 mg-% in wet tissue. This increase occurs mainly in the last trimenon; during the 7th to 8th month of gestation we find a myoglobin content of 34,8 mg-%. In menopause the amount of myoglobin is lower than during sexual maturity. During the menopause the myoglobin content decreases further. In the cervix uteri there is about half the amount of myoglobin as in the corpus uteri. In the musculus pectoralis the amount of myoglobulin is much higher with figures of 165,2 mg-% and 157,4 mg-%, measured by two different methods. Considering 80% of the content of the skeletal musculature to be pure muscle the myoglobin content in the pure muscle tissue is calculated to be 195,0 mg-%. At the end of pregnancy we calculate the pure muscle tissue content in the myometrium to be about 42%, which gives a myoglobulin content of about 155,0 mg-%. That means that the values in myometrium become nearly equal, at the time of the highest energy requirements, e.g. the moment of delivery, to those of the skeletal musculature.

Zusammenfassung Während der Schwangerschaft kommt es zu einer Zunahme des Myoglobingehaltes des Myometriums von 22,7 mg-% auf 64,8 mg-% Frischgewicht. Der Anstieg ist im letzten Trimenon am deutlichsten ausgeprägt; im 7.–8. Schwangerschaftsmonat bestimmen wir noch einen Myoglobingehalt von 34,8 mg-% im Myometrium des Corpus uteri. In der Menopause ist die Myoglobinmenge niedriger als während der Geschlechtsreife. Sie nimmt mit der Dauer der Menopause weiter ab. Im Cervixbereich findet sich nur etwa halb so viel Myoglobin wie im Corpus uteri. Deutlich höher sind die Myoglobinwerte im Musculus pectoralis mit 165,2 mg-% und 157,4 mg-%, bestimmt mit zwei unterschiedlichen Methoden. Unter Berücksichtigung von 80% Muskelanteil in der Skeletmuskulatur erhöht sich die Myoglobinmenge auf etwa 195,0 mg-% im reinen Muskelgewebe, im Myometrium am Ende der Schwangerschaft mit 42% reinen Muskelanteils auf etwa 155,0 mg-%. Die Werte im Myometrium nähern sich also zur Zeit der höchsten Energienaforderung, zum Zeitpunkt der Geburt, denen der Skeletmuskulatur.
