Notes:
An apparatus has been devised, which generates high pressure by supplying thermal energy to a good electrical conductor ball surrounded by an electrical and thermal insulator. Its structure is simple and the pressure generation is not accompanied by a pressure leakage and a frictional force. A pressure-measurement technique of the apparatus in the presence of high temperature has been also devised. Then the generated pressure has been estimated by numerical calculation. As an example, the pressure of 4.9 GPa is produced by the apparatus. In conclusion, the estimated pressure is in good agreement with the experimental result of the pressure measurement.
