Notes: ZnSe epilayers were grown on GaAs (100) substrates by atomic layer epitaxy modified from chemical-vapor deposition with thicknesses ranging from 600 to 6000 A(ring). X-ray-diffraction and micro-Raman scattering measurements were carried out to study the effects of strain in the ZnSe epilayers with different thicknesses. The increase in full width at half-maximum of double-crystal x-ray rocking curves was observed for layers thicker than the critical thickness, which indicates that the crystallinity gets strongly degraded when the layers are grown over the critical thickness. The critical thickness estimated by x-ray rocking curves is 1500 A(ring), while that obtained by micro-Raman scattering is 1000 A(ring). This difference suggests that the elastic strain depends on the layer depth for ZnSe epilayers around the critical thickness.

Notes: The neutrophilic dermatoses are significantly associated with myeloid malignancies. We now describe the clinical and histological features of 11 patients with these disorders, namely Sweet's syndrome in three cases, pyoderma gangrenosum in two, and neutrophilic eccrine hidradenitis in one; there were also five others which could not be categorised as recognised entities. Our observations, as well as those from a review of the literature, support the hypothesis that in the neutrophilic dermatoses associated with myeloid malignancy, a common mechanism may he involved.

Notes: Tests were conducted with dilute polymer solutions in a water tunnel. Subcritical flows over a circular cylinder were tested. The effects of free-stream turbulence and polymer additives on the development of laminar boundary layers and separation were examined.

Notes: Abstract This review describes basic chemistry, preparation process, and physical properties of aqueous polyurethane disperisons and the derived films, along with the methods of post treatment to modify the properties. Basic way to render a polyurethane water dispersible without external emulsifier has been described. Regarding the methods of preparation, four major processes are described and compared. Methods to improve the relatively poor water and solvent resistance of aqueous polyurethane dispersions which is introduced by the hydrophilicity and linear structure of polyurethane have been discussed with an emphasis on acrylate incorporations.

Notes: Abstract Aqueous dispersions of polyrethane (PU) containing ionic and nonionic hydrophilic segments were prepared in a prepolymer mixing process using substantial amount of solvent. The acid groups were neutralized with tertiary amine, and chain extension in aqueous media was carried out with triethylene tetramine. Average particle size and particle size distribution of the dispersion, and mechanical and viscoelastic properties of the emulsion cast films were determined.

Notes: Abstract Polyurethane-polymethacrylic acid multiblock copolymers have been prepared from tetraphenylethane-based polyurethane macroiniferters. Aqueous dispersions of these block copolymers and their anionomers have been prepared. Anionomeric dispersions have smaller particle size and higher viscosity when compared to their corresponding block copolymeric dispersions. Particle size decreases whereas viscosity increases when the degree of neutralization is increased. Tensile strength and initial modulus are higher for films derived from anionomeric dispersions than for the corresponding block copolymeric films.

Notes: Abstract Polyurethane (PU) ionomers were prepared from trimellitic anhydride (TMA), poly(tetramethylene adipate) glycol (PTAd), and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) in acetone. Upon neutralizing the carboxylic groups with a tertiary amine (TEA), and adding water to PU ionomer solution, followed by removing the acetone, stable aqueous PU dispersions were obtained. Effects of interionic molecular weight and nonionic hydrophilic segment, viz. monofunctional ethylene-propylene oxide ether on particle, size, emulsion viscosity, mechanical, and viscoelastic properties of the emulsion cast films were examined.

Notes: Numerical calculations of the velocity and temperature fields were conducted for unsteady flows over a single circular cylinder and a bundle of cylinders. Periodic disturbances, natural or externally imposed, were considered. Periodic and averaged heat transfer rates were examined. Results compare favorably with experimental data. Calculations were carried out to predict heat transfer rates in regimes of unsteady flows that have not been tested experimentally.
