Summary Unspecific organ and species unspecific cytoplasmic antibodies present in cases of Drythematodes and of infective hepatitis can also react with constituents of the plasma of human leucocytes. This is not a cell-specific reaction as is shown by the fact that it can be prevented by absorption of the serum with cytoplasmic factors from rat liver. These antibodies have no toxic or lytic effects, and cannot tract with intact cells. There are however some reasons for supposing that these serum factors have some protective power: in some circumstances they can prevent or decrease liberation of lysosomal enzymes. These cytoplasmatic antibodies can be distinguished from leucocytic auto- and iso-antibodies, as well as from antinuclear factors, on the basis of absorption experiments and also by their different reactions.

Zusammenfassung Organ- und speziesunspezifische zytoplasmatische Antikörper, die bei viszeralem Erythematodes und infektiöser Hepatitis gefunden werden, können auch mit Plasmabestandteilen menschlicher Leukozyten in Reaktion treten. Es handelt sich dabei um keine zellspezifische Reaktion, da sie durch Absorption des Serums mit Zytoplasmafraktionen von Rattenleber verhindert werden kann. Diese Antikörper haben auch keine zytotoxischen und lytischen Eigenschaften und vermögen mit der intakten Zelle nicht zu reagieren. Es bestehen aber Anhaltspunkte für eine gewisse protektive Wirkung dieser Serumfaktoren, da sie die Freisetzung lysosomaler Enzyme unter Umständen verhindern oder verringern können. Durch Absorptionsexperimente und durch ihre differente Reaktionsweise sind diese zytoplasmatischen Antikörper von leukozytären Auto- und Isoantikörpern und antinukleären Faktoren unterscheidbar.
