Notes: Abstract The half-lives of the following intrinsic states in deformed odd-mass nuclei has been measured by delayed coincidences with a time-to-amplitude converter: (1) 5/2 5/2+[642] at 86.5 keV in155Gd:T 1/2=6.7±0.3 ns, which results in the determination of theE1,ΔK=1 transition probability to the ground state 3/2 3/2−[521] and first rotational state 5/2 3/2−[521], yielding hindrance factors ofF N ≈5.5 and ≈1.8 (F W =3.1×104 and 2.3×104) respectively. (2) (3) 5/2 5/2−[512] at 191.4 keV in169Yb:T 1/2=3.35±0.15 ns and at 122.39 keV in171Yb:T 1/2=265±20 ns which results in the determination of the transition probabilities of theE1,ΔK=1 transitions to the ground states 7/2 7/2+[633], of theK-forbiddenM1 transitions to the 5/2 and 3/2 1/2−[521] and of theE2 transitions to the 5/2, 3/2 and 1/2 1/2−[521] states in both nuclei. TheE1 transition probabilities are compared to the transitions between the same Nilsson states in173Yb and175Hf discussing the influence of the position of the Fermi surface — obtained from recent stripping and pick-up reactions — on these transition probabilities. Additional information on the decay scheme of171Lu→171Yb is obtained by delayed coincidence measurements. For testing the used time-to-amplitude converter the well known half-lives of the 482 keV level in181Ta (T 1/2=10.4±0.3 ns) and of the 279 keV level in203Tl (T 1/2=0.285 ±0.015 ns) were measured, in good agreement with other measurements.

Notes: Abstract The electron capture decay energy of183Re has been determined from the fraction ofK-capture in the transition to the 453.08 keV level in183W by delayed coincidences. From this value the total decay energy from183Re→183W is obtained to beQ=555 −7 +9 keV according to the theory ofBrysk andRose with corrections ofBahcall. The resulting logft values and consequences for the decay scheme are discussed.

Notes: Abstract The spin of the 1,029 keV level in200Hg has been determined to be 0 through measurements of theγ-γ-angular correlation of the 661 keV and 368 keVγ-rays following slow neutron capture in199Hg. The upper limit for theγ-intensity ratioIγ(1,029 keV)/Iγ(661 keV) obtained from the curved crystal spectrometer (n, γ)-data is much lower than the ratio found during the200Tl→200Hg decay studies. This implies that the 1,029 keVγ-line seen in the decay work does not lead from the 1,029 keV level to the ground state in200Hg, but that it depopulates a level which is only weakly fed through the (n, γ)-process.

Notes: Abstract The half-lives of the intrinsic states at 1,285.8 and 1,502.2 keV in184W have been measured in the decay of184Re m to be 8.33±0.18Μs and 2.35±0.10 ns, respectively. These half-lives determine absolute gamma-ray transition probabilities of eight transitions and yield upper limits for three transitions. The decay scheme of184Re m →184W is improved through measurements of delayed gamma-ray spectra with a Ge(Li) detector. Spin and Nilsson model interpretations are discussed.

Notes: Abstract Prompt and delayed low energyγ-γ-coincidences from the197Au(n, γ)198Au reaction have been measured with Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) detectors at the external neutron beam of the research reactor (FRM) near Munich. A level scheme consistent with all available experimental data is constructed and discussed. The half-life of the 367.29 keV level was obtained with a time-to-amplitude converter to be 123 ± 4 ns. It determines the absolute transition probability of the 97.211 keVE1 transition.

Notes: Abstract Selectively excited high-spin states in27Al have been located by the reaction12C(16O,p)27Al. The excitation functions of these states have been measured at incident energiesE cm=18.7 to 30.1 MeV at intervals of 150 keV. They exhibit maxima of presumably non-statistical origin. At four different energies the subsequent decay of the27Al states has been studied by detecting the final heavy recoils with the Munich recoil spectrometer in coincidence with the proton emitted in the first stage of the reaction. Using this new method branching ratios of theγ-, α-, andn-decay have been measured. Based on angular correlation arguments spins up to 27/2ħ have been determined within the experimental accuracy of 1–2ħ. The observations suggest a superdeformed shape of27Al at least in some of the states.

Notes: Abstract A new isomeric state in237Np has been discovered at an excitation energy of (945.3±0.2) keV withT 1/2 =(711±40) ns. Six gamma-ray lines have been measured depopulating the isomeric state to known levels in237Np. The comparison of the measured absolute gamma-ray transition probabilities with empirical values yields as most probable spinI andK assignmentI=K=13/2 for this isomeric state. It is most likely a 1-proton-2-neutron quasiparticle state 13/2−π5/2+ [642] +ν7/2− [743] + ν 1/2+ [631]. However, a one-quasiparticle 11/2− [505] configuration for the isomer cannot be excluded.

    Notes: Abstract The half-life of theI,K π=2, 2− state at 1318 keV in174Yb has been measured in the173Yb(n, γ) reaction to be 0.486±0.015 ns. This half-life determines the absolute transition probabilities of the gamma-ray transitions to the ground state rotational band yielding the following hindrance factors relative to the Weisskopf estimate:F W(M 2; 2, 2−→0, 0+)=350;F W(M2; 2, 2−→2, 0+)≧77F W(M 2;2, 2−→4, 0+)〉740;F W(E 1; 2, 2−→2, 0+)=4.5×106;F W(E 3; 2, 2−→2, 0+)≈0.1;F W(E 3; 2, 2−→4, 0+)≈0.4. These data are compared to analogous transitions in neighboring nuclei.

Notes: Abstract Precise energies and intensities of about 450γ-rays of the197Au(n, γ)198Au reaction have been investigated in the energy range from 30 keV to 1 MeV with a bentcrystal spectrometer. Prompt and delayedγ-γ coincidences have been studied with Ge(Li) detectors. A half-life of 124±4 ns has been measured for the state at 312.036 keV, which is found to decay to the ground state through the cascade 97.195–214.841 keV. A new level scheme based on these results has been constructed which contains 160 transitions. Spin and parity assignments have been made for most of the levels.

Notes: Abstract The following meanlives of levels in72Se have been measured using the recoildistance Doppler-shift method:Τ(2+, 862 keV)=3.1±0.6 ps,Τ(2+′, 1317 keV)=12.5±2.6 ps,Τ(4+, 1638 keV)=1.2±0.3 ps andΤ(6+, 2469 keV)≦0.7 ps. These meanlives yield sixB(E2) values which are discussed together with the known data of the depopulation of the excited 0+′ state at 937 keV. Systematics of 0+′ states in the mass region 70≲A≲100 show that the low excitation energy of the 0+′ states is correlated with subshell closures. This suggests that the previous interpretation of the 0+′ state in72Se as a rotational band head is questionable.
