Conclusions The mixer lining is destroyed by the penetration of liquid high-phosphorous pig iron into the joints of the brick lining and by the resulting volumetric changes in the lining. A guniting technology was evolved which produces a protective gunited layer on the lining, the result being that the useful life of the lining is doubled.
