Notes: In this work, flux method is used to control the surface morphologies and crystalstructures of the fine K2Ti6O13 fibers. When K2CO3 as a flux is added into fine K2Ti6O13 fibers andheated at 1100oC for 2h, the crystal of fibers are transformed to K2Ti4O9 and K2Ti2O5, however, theresulting fibers have no significant change in morphologies. On the other hand, when KCl is used asflux (15wt%) and heated at 1200oC for 2h, the diameters of the resulting fibers become about 2micron without any change of the crystal structure

Notes: It is very important to forecast the fatigue crack development upon welded girder of bridgecrane during use. When it happens, it will have a lot of clout with performance of enterprises. Forsecurity purpose in use, ANFIS model is built to predict the length of the fatigue crack extensionabout welded girder of bridge crane. Membership function is adjusted according to inputs and outputsof fuzzy reasoning, and appropriate fuzzy regulation numbers are chosen. The model which is closestto the real development of fatigue crack is built with the help of the If-Then rules. According to theresult from the fatigue experiment of the welded girder of bridge crane, ANFIS model, ANN modeland Three Order Spline Interpolation model are respectively built. After analysis and verification, it isobvious that ANFIS model is more accurate and feasible

Notes: With the concepts of the confidence interval, a random parameter can be transformed intoan interval number in the mesco ductile fracture. Hence analyses of the random isolated void modelcan be used in the interval analysis method. Based on the macro- and mesco-experimental results offour steels, 30CrMnSiA, 40CrNiMoA, No.45 and No.20, the probabilistic fracture characteristics ofthe four steels are given. Finally the interval isolated void models in the four steels are discussed

Notes: As the interconnection density of electronic packaging continues to increase, the fatigueinducedsolder joint failure of surface mounted electronic devices become one of the most criticalreliability issues in electronic packaging industry. Especially, prediction of the shape of solder jointis a major event in the development of electronic packaging for its practical engineering application. In conventional electronic packages, the geometrical dimensions of solder balls and solder pads ofthe package are the same. In this research, a hybrid method combined with analytical and energybasedmethods is utilized to predict force-balanced heights and geometry profiles of solder ballsunder various solder volume and pad dimensions as well as their relative location during the reflowprocess. Next, a non-linear finite element analysis is adopted to investigate the stress/strain behaviorof solder balls in flip chip package. The results reveal that as the flip chip package contains largersolder balls located at the corner area underneath the chip, the maximum equivalent plasticstrain/stress is evidently reduced and the reliability cycles under thermal loading are enhanced.Furthermore, the results presented in this research can be used as a design guideline for area arrayinterconnections

Notes: CuMgAl hydrotalcite-like compounds with MII/MIII=1 and Cu/Mg molar ratios 3:1, 1:1, 1:3 and 1:19were synthesized by coprecipitation and characterized by elemental analyses, XRD, SEM, FT-IR, TG-DTAand BET surface area test. XRD of all samples showed that Cu/Mg/Al hydrotalcites without any detectableimpurity phase could be obtained at Cu/Mg molar ratios 1:3 and 1:19, however, at high Cu/Mg molar ratios 3:1and 1:1, Al(OH)3 and copper hydroxides or oxides were obtained in the products besides the hydrotalcites, owing to the strong Jahn-Teller effect of Cu2+. It was also found that the crystallinity of the solids increasedwith an increase in copper content. IR results showed that the symmetry of carbonate was reduced from D3hto lower symmetry at high copper content. The thermal stability of the compounds decreased with increasingcopper content, as indicated by TG-DTA measurements. Further thermal decomposition analyses showedthat the surface area reached the maximum at calcination temperature of 500° C and mixed metal oxides withcrystalline MgO, amorphous Al2O3 and highly dispersed CuO were obtained

Notes: In this paper, the hydration product of calcium phosphate cement with bioactive glasscontaining Si was used to investigate the effect of chemical composition on its bioactivity. Thevariation of concentrations of Ca2+, P and Si in TE solution complemented with electrolytes typicalfor plasma (TEE) and the formation of amorphous calcium phosphate layer on the surface of thematerials were investigated by immersing the designed materials in TEE solution in vitro. The resultsshowed that the composition of the bioactive composite CPC greatly affected its behavior in thesolution and the formation of bioactive apatite. After immersed in TEE solution, the Ca ions wereuptaken for all the samples, showing the decreases of Ca concentration during the entire duration, butthe concentration of P ions increased sharply at the initial stage, and then decreased due to theformation of amorphous calcium phosphate layer on the surface of the materials. FTIR revealed thatthe layer was poorly crystallized Ca-deficient carbonate apatite. The thickness of the layer was morethan 12 um, which layer was composed of rod-like apatite with directional arrangement. All the dataobtained would be useful for the design and optimization of the orthopedic degradable implantinorganic materials

Notes: Cutting parameters play an essential role in the economics of machining. In this paper, particle swarm optimization (PSO), a novel optimization algorithm for cutting parametersoptimization (CPO), was discussed comprehensively. First, the fundamental principle of PSO wasintroduced; then, the algorithm for PSO application in cutting parameters optimization wasdeveloped; thirdly, cutting experiments without and with optimized cutting parameters wereconducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of optimization, respectively. The results show that themachining process was improved obviously

Notes: Due to cutting parameters playing an important role in machining economics andmachining qualities, much attention has been paid to select optimum cutting parameters. In thispaper, cutting parameters optimization for constant cutting force was discussed based-on virtualmachining comprehensively. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) was used to seek for the optimalspindle speed and feed rate. The framework of virtual machining based cutting parametersoptimization was established. Then two controlled experiments were conducted to demonstrate theeffectiveness of cutting parameters optimization both with physical cutting and computersimulation. The results of experiments show that machining process with constant cutting force canbe achieved via cutting parameters optimization based on virtual machining

Notes: According to the all set theory, a fuzzy-random heat conduction model is presented. Todeal with the function, the following steps are taken. Firstly equations of the mean values andvariances of the random thermal function are transformed. Secondly when the heat conductparameters are the fuzzy numbers and the temperature boundary conditions are the random numbers, interval equations of the heat conduction are presented. Thirdly comparing the interval result ininterval analysis with the one in confidence interval, the result in the interval analysis is larger thanthat in the confidence interval. Then the error expecting equation is presented. Finally, the intervalanalysis to deal with the stability heat conduction is given
