Description / Table of Contents:
Summary Absorption and elution studies with blood platelets were performed with 13 HL-A-specific sera from pregnant women. It was possible to isolate 8 monospecific and 4 cross-reacting HL-A-specific antibodies in the eluates, thus being able to type for 9 HL-A-antigens (1,2,5,7,13, Ba*, BB, LND and SL) in micro-complement fixation with platelets. It is emphasized that antibody concentration in eluates permits the production of strong, complement fixing sera even against HL-A-antigens with low frequency. Cross reactivity within the HL-A-system renders the elution of monospecific antisera difficult. In this study the following cross reactions between HL-A-antigens were found: HL-A2+Ba*, HL-A7+BB, HL-A7+BB+LND and HL-A13+BB. Based on these results the question of “monospecificity” of HL-A-antisera is discussed.
Notes:
