Notes:
The reaction between Ti(OiPr)4 and [Pb(NtBu)2] (1) in refluxing THF afforded the complex Ti(OiPr)4OPb4(NtBu)3] (2) which has been characterized by X-ray diffraction studies and by 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. Titanium is five coordinate and it displays a trigonal bipyramidal stereochemistry with the pb4(tBuN)3O cage ligand bonded to titanium through the oxygen atom and occupying an apical position. The origin of the cubane lead ligand is discussed.
