Description / Table of Contents: Contents The paper describes a procedure for calculating the impulse voltage distribution in rotating-machine windings having mutual inductance between the winding sections. The investigations has resulted in an exact closed-form solution of the governing matrix differential equation of the equivalent circuit used in the calculations. The method used in the investigations lead to the so called generalized eigenvalue problem.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary To determine the transient voltage distribution established by a voltage impulse, the loss-free transmission line is replaced, according toH. Prinz, by a ladder network built up of inductive windings and capacitors recurring in alternating succession along the network. The end of the transmission line is terminated by a condenser of arbitrary capacity. The nodal voltages are determined by a matrix differential equation of the second order. This differential equation is solved in closed form by the simultaneous diagonalization of the coefficient matrices for arbitrary voltage surges. From the general solution formula the solutions for the “open” and “earthed” line, respectively, are got as a special case.
„starr geerdeten” Fernleitung.

Notes: Exact formulae of Ewald's conception of the extended dynamical theory of diffraction are applied to a crystal of finite thickness. The results obtained are compared with those yielded by conventional and extended Laue theory.

Notes: Abstract Band matrices and Green's matrices have been defined by E. Asplund [1]; his basic theorem shows their relationship. The definition of one-pair-matrices was given by F. R. Gantmacher and M. G. Krein [5]; they showed that the inverse of a one-pair-matrix is a tridiagonal matrix and vice versa. Introducing the concept of strict band matrices and semi-separable matrices, and making use of the above theorems, the main result on the relationship between strict band matrices and semi-separable matrices will be proved. Further a constructive method will be given to obtain the inverse of a strict band matrix.

Notes: Abstract The reflectivity and transmitivity of a spatially dispersive crystal for S-polarized incident light are calculated for a microscopical model in which the interaction among the crystal planes is assumed to fall exponentially with distance. The angle of incidence is arbitrary and the deduced formulae are valid from X-ray to the visible light region. The generalization to the more complicated models is briefly discussed. For solving the problem an algebraic formulation of the Ewald dynamical theory of diffraction is used.

Notes: Abstract In the theory of local states it is usual to bring the linear problem ¦glI N −D¦=0 into a non-linear one ¦R(λ)¦=0, where the ordern of the condensed stiffness matrixR(λ) is much smaller than the orderN of the matrixD. Powerful methods exist for determining the number of the eigenvalues ofD in some interval without solving the equation ¦glI N −D¦=0 explicitly. It is shown, that analogous methods can be applied to the condensed matrix R(λ), when computing the eigen-valuesλ outside the frequency spectrum of the ideal lattice.
