Notes: Abstract The non-unique first-forbidden 1−(1.9 MeVβ −)2+ transition in the decay of148Pm is studied. The nuclear matrix elements are evaluated using for the ground state of the odd-odd148Pm a phenomenological wave function derived in a previous work in the framework of the two-quasiparticle model and assuming that the first excited 2+ state in148Sm can be described as the first quadrupole phonon state. This model provides nuclear matrix elements which are capable of describing experimental data like the spectrum shape factor, the longitudinal polarization of the electrons and a particular set ofβ-γ directional correlation coefficients, but it fails to interpret the large logft value of this transition. In addition, the validity of theξ-approximation is discussed.

Notes: Abstract The spectrum of211At is described in terms of the coupling between single particle states and pairing vibrations. The formalism is based on the Nuclear Field Theory. The results, which are in good agreement with the available experimental information, show the importance of the so-called Pauli Principle corrections.

Notes: Abstract The matrix elements governing the 693 keV first-forbidden beta decay transition in111Ag are calculated in terms of the quasiparticle-phonon coupling model. Electromagnetic properties are evaluated, in addition, for various transitions in111Ag and111Cd. The theoretical results show a reasonable agreement with respect to recently reported experimental values.

Notes: Abstract The influence of quadrupole pairing correlations upon quadrupole electric transitions and two nucleon transfer matrix elements is investigated. The formalism is based on the Random Phase Approximation treatment of a non-separable two body interaction. Contributions due to particle-hole and particle-particle terms of the residual interaction are explicitly calculated and the competition between them is also studied as function of the ratio of the coupling constants which define the strength of each channel. Results are shown and discussed for the case of even mass Zn isotopes, with 60 ≦A≦ 72.

Notes: Abstract The magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments of the ground states of148Pm and210Bi are evaluated with phenomenological wave functions derived fromβ-decay studies published in previous works. It is found that these wave functions account satisfactorily for the experimental data of both nuclear moments of the210Bi ground state. In the case of148Pm, while the calculated value of the electric quadrupole moment is not inconsistent with the experimental data, a strong disagreement between theory and experiment is found for the magnetic dipole moment. We attribute this failure to the use of a too small configuration space for the expansion of the nuclear wave function of148Pm.

Notes: Abstract Theβ ∓, (n→p) and (p→n), transition strengths and excitation energies for first forbidden resonances with λπ=0− and 2− in spherical nuclei are calculated in the framework of the linear response theory. The results show that the intensities associated with these modes are strongly fragmented, particularly, for the λπ=2− states.

Notes: Abstract We study the dynamics of a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe conformally coupled to a real, self-interacting, massive scalar field. We apply a full set of tools corresponding to dynamical system theory: fixed points, linear stability analysis, resonances study and numerical evaluation of Poincaré sections of the dynamical flux. We can conclude that the chaotic behaviour is possible in the very early universe. In the case of a spatially closed universe we show that the route to chaos is reached by successive breaking of the resonant tori due to the action of 1∶1 resonances.

Notes: Abstract We present a new dynamical calculation about the Friedman-Robertson-Walker universe considered as an autonomous Hamiltonian. The time evolution of this Hamiltonian presents numerical instabilities so we apply a symplectic integration via infinitesimal canonical transformations of the phase space time evolution that preserves the Poincaré invariant. In this way, we have also obtained a sensitive improvement in the accuracy of the Hamiltonian constraint, as well as in the computing time. We confirm our previous results; in a spatially closed universe, the route to chaos is reached by sucessive breakage of the resonant tori due to the action of 1∶1 resonances.
