Description / Table of Contents: Summary In this report 100 sera of blood donors, as well as 30 sera of patients with pathological conditions of the hepatic parenchyma, were tested for their serum-iron-content, distribution of the serum-protein-fractions, the immuno-electric differentiation-potential of transferrin, as well as for their ferritincontent. Taking into consideration the mean values, these studies showed practically normal serum-iron- and serum-protein-conditions for the blood donors. However, 38 per cent show definite deviations from normal, and it was rather difficult to find their causes, since the values were extremely high above and below normal, and since it was impossible to demonstrate a relationship between the frequency of donating blood and the correspondingly abnormal findings. Apart from two questionable exceptions, it was not possible to demonstrate ferritin crystals in blood donors. With reference to the serum-albumin- and serum-protein-changes, the results in patients with hepatitis were non-specific. However, in 10.3 per cent of these patients, it was possible to show ferritin crystals in the serum.
