    Description / Table of Contents: On the Intercalation Behaviour of Preheated Kaolinites towards Hydrazine Hydrate, Dimethyl Sulfoxide, and CarbamideThe intercalation behaviour towards hydrazine hydrate, dimethyl sulfoxide, and carbamide, respectively, of partially dehydroxylated samples of a kaolin and of a clay has been studied. The intercalation activity of the named compounds decreases with increasing degree of dehydroxylation of the kaolinite component. In this respect, however, the intercalation behaviour of the three compounds is quite different. The reactivity of carbamide depends most sensibly on the thermally created lattice defects. In comparison with the well-crystallized kaolinite of the kaolin the kaolinite component of the clay is highly disordered. It is due to this disorder that not only the usual intercalation activity is reduced, but also this activity is much more sensible against thermal pretreatment of the kaolinite.
    Notes: Das Intercalationsverhalten von Kaolinit in thermisch partiell dehydroxylierten Proben eines Kaolins und eines Tons gegenüber Hydrazinhydrat, Dimethylsulfoxid und Harnstoff wurde in Abhängigkeit von der Vorbehandlungstemperatur und dem Dehydroxylationsgrad untersucht. In allen Fällen nimmt mit wachsendem Dehydroxylationsgrad die Intercalationsneigung ab. Hierin aber verhalten sich die Intercalationsmedien unterschiedlich. Harnstoff reagiert am empfindlichsten gegenüber den thermisch bedingten Gitterstörungen. Die hohe Fehlordnung des Kaolinits aus der Tonprobe hat nicht nur eine geringere Intercalationsneigung zur Folge, sondern bewirkt auch, daß nach thermischer Vorbelastung die Intercalationsneigung stärker zurückgeht als bei dem besser geordneten Kaolinit aus der Kaolinprobe.
