Notes: [Auszug] In the investigations undertaken to obtain a satisfactory routine method for the decalcification of thin ground specimens of adult human enamel, the aim has been primarily to retain as completely as possible the organic matrix. A simultaneous tanning and decalcification of the specimens were ...

Notes: The relation of the clinical picture of snuff dipper's lesions to the histopathological appearance was studied in 114 male dippers aged 20–88 years.Histological study revealed increased epithelial thickness, a vacuolated surface layer with wavelike, eosinophilic spikes directed toward the surface having a narrow, eosinophilic band as a demarcation toward the prickle cell layer, acanthosis, and a slight inflammatory reaction. Thirteen cases showed an increased number of eosinophilic granulocytes, and nine cases contained amorphous, weakly eosinophilic areas in the connective tissue papillae. No epithelial dysplasia was observed.Increased epithelial thickness, especially the presence of a vacuolated surface layer, was the only histologic feature that could be correlated with the severity of clinical appearance of the lesions. Deeply located changes, like inflammation and amorphous areas, however, were not reflected in the clinical grading of the lesions.

On y reconnait plusieurs couches bien individualisées.
Notes: Abstract A recently-developed method for histological decalcification using aqueous solutions of basic chromium (III) sulphate has been applied to thin sections of adult human dentine. Subsequent studies in the electron microscope show a very good retention of morphological detail in the extracellular regions. Special attention was given to the appearance of the peritubular matrix within which well-differentiated layers were recognised. There was substantial agreement between electron microscopy and recent studies of the same matric under the light microscope, allowing a novel hypothesis for the formation of the peritubular dentine.

Notes: Abstract The halflife of the 9/2 1 + , 53.2 keV state in105Ag has been measured by the delayed-coincidences technique to 2.33±0.08 ns. The reduced transition probabilities between the 9/2 1 + and 7/2 1 + states have been deduced and compared with the theoretical predictions within the cluster-vibration coupling model (Alaga model).

Notes: Abstract The concentrations of Pb, Cd, Zn, Cu, Ni, Cr, Mn, Co, As, and Se were determined in the abdominal muscle and hepatopancreas from raw and cooked crayfish of Astacus astacus (L.) and Pacifastacus leniusculus (Dana), both of Swedish origin. After cooking, the concentrations of Cd, Ni, and Co in the hepatopancreas showed a decrease and the concentrations of Pb, Cu, and Mn in the abdominal muscle showed an increase. Metal and metalloid concentrations were also determined in the abdominal muscle and hepatopancreas of commercially caught and cooked crayfish, including Astacus leptodactylus (Esch.) and Procambarus clarkii (Girard), from China, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and USA. Most of the elements showed little variation except for cadmium in the abdominal muscle of P. leniusculus from California, which was markedly higher (mean=0.082 mg/kg) than the others (mean=0.004 mg/kg). Metal and metalloid concentrations in hepatopancreas varied greatly within as well as between countries. In the hepatopancreas from P. leniusculus from a Swedish lake the manganese concentrations were markedly higher than in any other crayfish. The intake of cadmium from crayfish inhabiting uncontaminated waters will be low if the hepatopancreas is not consumed.

Notes: Abstract Directional correlations of gamma-gamma cascades in the decay of206Po have been measured for the first time. Using a multichannel goniometer with 2 Ge(Li) and 6 NaI(Tl) detectors theA 2 andA 4 coefficients have been measured for five cascades in206Bi. From the results,E2/M1 mixing ratios of nine transitions are determined. Upper limits of the transition strengths are presented. Three of the measured mixing ratios are compared with theoretical estimates based on magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments of neighbouring nuclei.
