Notes: Summary An intracranial hypertension was found at autopsy to be due to a limbic infiltrating glioma. A cortical temporal biopsy had been done 14 months before, whose ultrastructural results are reported. Membranous whorls, made of two dense membranes with a variable separative space are seen around neurones, dendrites, axons, synapses and oligoglial cells; they derived from astrocytes and are joined by 2 types of cell junctions: gap-junctions and puncta adherentia. Relations between reactive and tumoral gliosis are discussed.

Notes: Summary A case of eight simultaneous brain abscesses in the right cerebral hemisphere, treated medically after puncture of two of them, is reported. Antibiotics and hypertonic mannitol and, after seven days, dexamethasone were sufficient to cure these lesions. CT scan was of primary importance to follow the evolution under treatment. To get the best efficiency from antibiotics, identification of the microorganism and assessment of its resistance to antibiotics are necessary. It is suggested that in certain conditions medical therapy might be sufficient to treat cerebral abscess, after simple puncture to isolate the infecting agent. Corticosteroids should be avoided in the acute phase because they prevent antibiotics from penetrating the abscesses.

Notes: Summary Analysis of level of brain stem dysfunction, evolution, and CT scan profile was made on 76 cases of head injuries with prolonged unconsciousness and without hemispheric focal lesion and midline shift on CT scan. Eleven cases were considered normal on CT scan. The CT scan aspect of primary brain stem lesion was identified in 31.5% of these series, and in 14.5% of all severe head traumas (186 cases), from which this series is taken. Primary and secondary CT scan profiles were observed whatever the clinical level of dysfunction and its evolution. Pontine lesions were mainly associated with haemorrhage in the brain stem and diffuse brain swelling; but minimal signs (cortical level) and benign outcome can also be related to axial haemorrhage. These results emphasize the frequency of primary brain stem lesions and the value of CT scan in head injuries.

Notes: Summary 58 patients with a juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma have been treated by a combined neuroradiological-surgical method. In the cases with smaller turmor extension, fed only by the external carotid arteries or with only slight participation of the internal carotid arteries, the external carotid arteries alone have been embolized using particles. In the cases with marked participation of the internal carotid arteries these vessels were also embolized. In the first group there have been no complications and no recurrences. In the latter (31 cases) there have been three temporary minor complications and 11 recurrences.

Notes: Summary A technique of reconstruction of angiograms in any projection, by stereogrammetry and computer, is described. Sections of the vessels may be obtained and superimposed on CT sections.
