Notes:
Summary The present investigations were undertaken to determine at varying periods of time the concentrations of various antibiotics in blood serum and primary aqueous humor. Following antibiotics were given: Gentamicin, Penicillin-G, Oxacillin, Ampicillin, Carbenicillin, Cephalothin and Chloramphenicol. The highest levels in aqueous humor were received with Oxacillin and Ampicillin. Gentamicin penetrates the aqueous humor of human eyes in therapeutic levels only when injected subconjunctivally. After intravenous and intramuscular injection significant levels of Gentamicin are detectable only in blood serum, aqueous humor levels are very low and not exceed 0.5 mcg/ml.
