Reactions of Thiophenols with dicyclohexylcarbodiimideThiophenols (2) react with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide to give S-aryl-N,N′-dcyclohexyliso-thioureas (3). In the case of less acidic thiophenols, at elevated temperatures, this reaction is followed by the formation of diaryldisulfides (6) and N,N′-dicyclohexylformamidine (7). In addition small amounts of tris- and bis(arylthio) methane are formed. p-Nitrothiophenol in a subsequent reaction yields bis (p-nitrophenyl)sulfide (11) and N,N′-dicyclohexylthiourea (12). In addition small quantities of N,N′-dicyclohexyl-N-(p-nitrophenyl)thiourea (13) are obtained, wich are formed by S → N-rearrangement of the nitrophenyl group.

Thiophenole (2) reagieren mit Dicyclohexylcarbodiimid zu S-Aryl-N,N′-dicyclohexylisorthioharnstoffen (3). Bei höheren Temperaturen geht die Reaktion bei den schwach sauren Thiophenolen weiter zu den Diaryldisulfiden (6) und N,N′-Dicyclohexylformamidin (7). Daneben wird in geringer Menge Tris- und Bis(arylthio)methan gebildet. Im Falle des p-Nitrothiophenols entstehen als Folgeprodukte Bis( p-nitrophenyl)sulfid (11) und N,N′-Dicyclohexylthioharnstoff (12). Außerdem tritt in geringer Menge N,N′-Dicyclohexyl-N-(p-nitrophenyl)-thioharnstoff (13) auf, der durch eine S → N-Wanderung des Nitrophenylrestes entsteht.
