    Notes: Abstract. The asymptotic behavior of the n -widths of multiplier operators from L p [0,1] into L q [0,1] is studied. General upper and lower bounds for the n -widths in terms of the multipliers are established. Moreover, it is shown that these upper and lower bounds coincide for some important concrete examples.

    Notes: Abstract. We extend the results of Pollard [4] and give asymptotic estimates for the norm of the Fourier—Gegenbauer projection operator in the appropriate weighted L p space. In particular, we settle the question of whether the projection is bounded for p=(2λ+1)/λ and p=(2λ+1)/(λ+1) , where λ is the index for the family of Gegenbauer polynomials under consideration.

    Notes: Abstract Quasi-interpolation using radial basis functions has become a popular method for constructing approximations to continuous functions in many space dimensions. In this paper we discuss a procedure for generating kernels for quasi-interpolation, using functions which have series expansions involving terms liker α logr. It is shown that such functions are suitable if and only if α is a positive even integer and the spatial dimension is also even.
