Notes: Summary Polypeptide analysis of three strains of human rotavirus (KUN, Wa and MO) were conducted using a hypertonic culture which suppressed host protein synthesis and unmasked rotavirus specific protein synthesis. As a result, eleven human rotavirus specific polypeptides (Vp 1–Vp 11) were detected by pulselabeling infected cells with [14C]-leucine. Among the 11 polypeptides, three polypeptides (Vp 7, Vp 10 and Vp 11) underwent post-translational processing, and two (Vp 7 and Vp 10) were glycosylated. Six polypeptides (Vp 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7) were identified as viral structural proteins. Comparisons of three strains of different serotypes revealed that their polypeptide profiles differed from each other in electrophoretic mobility; in particular, profiles of the glycosylated polypeptide, Vp 7, were distinct among the three strains.

Notes: [Auszug] Researches on RASS, initiated by Marshall et all9 have been advanced during the past decade by several groups 2~4 in various countries, who have concentrated on atmospheric temperature measurements in the planetary boundary layer up to ~2 km above the ground. Most of these experiments used a RASS ...

Notes: Summary Entry of the KUN strain of human rotavirus into MA 104 cells was studied by electron microscopy. Double-shelled rotavirus particles attached to the cell membrane, and in the presence of trypsin their nucleic acids were expelled from the virus core into the cytoplasm through radial spaces between the capsomeres and the cell membrane pores formed after their attachment. This mechanism was considered to be analogous to those of phages.

Notes: Abstract The complexes of trivalent gallium, indium and thallium with trioctylamine (TOA, R3N) and trioctylmethylammonium chloride (TOMAC, R3R′NCl) were prepared by drying in vacuo the organic extracts from aqueous solutions containing the chlorides of their metals with TOA and TOMAC in benzene: R3NHGaCl4, (R3NH)2InCl5, R3NHTlCl4, R3R'NGaCl4, R3R'NInCl4 and R3RTlCl4. The prepared complexes were examined by TG and DTA under an atmosphere of nitrogen, and the products of their thermal decompositions, such as volatile matter and residues, were examined by gas chromatography, X-ay diffraction study and infrared spectrophotometry. It was found that the complexes of these trivalent metals with TOA and TOMAC decompose thermally to the chlorides (GaCl3, InCl3 and TlCl) through the cracking of alkyl groups.

Notes: Abstract The results for the extractions of divalent (manganese, cobalt, zinc and cadmium) and trivalent (gallium and indium) metals and hexavalent uranium from aqueous solutions by various extractants such as organophosphorus compounds (tributyl phosphate, trioctylphosphine oxide, di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid and 2-ethylhexyl 2-ethylhexylphosphonic acid), sulfur-containing compound (dihexyl sulfoxide), high-molecular weight amines (trioctylamine and trioctylmethylammonium chloride) and 7-alkylated hydroxyquinoline (7-(5,5,7,7-tetramethyl-1-octen-3-yl)-8-hydroxyquinoline are discussed in the viewpoint of separation chemistry.

Notes: Abstract It was found that the reaction of sodium nitrite with ruthenium trichloride proceeds at room temperature even without hydrochloric acid, giving disodium hydroxotetranitronitrosylruthenate /Na2RuNO/NO2/4OH/. No appreciable amount of nitrogen oxide evolved in the reaction.

Notes: Abstract Chemical effects associated with6Li (n,α)T reaction in Lithium compounds were studied by observing a Mössbauer spectrum for the Mössbauer nuclides introduced in the lithium compounds. The large difference between the effects of lithium carbonate and oxalate was compared with the results obtained in the emission Mössbauer spectra of57Co-labelled triscarbonatocobaltate(III) and trisoxalatocobaltate(III), in which the former shows much less reducing effect on the produced57Fe species than the latter.

Notes: Summary Glycogen phosphorylase has at least three isoenzymes, i.e. muscle-, liver-, and brain-types. Antibodies have been raised against highly purified isoenzymes from rat muscle, liver and brain and found to react specifically to extracts from human muscle, liver and brain, respectively. Using these antibodies and the unlabelled antibody—enzyme method, each of the three isoenzymes has been localized in both rat and human tissues.
